How many shows have you performed? How do you dress when you perform? Will you wear a tuxedo if I insist that you do? When do you set up your equipment? Do you work alone? Do you charge for travel time or set up? Do you announce the bridal party or handle emcee duties? Do you provide karaoke service? Do you take breaks? Do you require a deposit to book? What if inclement weather strikes on the contracted date? What about power outages? Can we meet face to face before the show? Will you play special songs that I bring? Must I provide a meal for you and any assistants? Is there anything I do need to provide? When is payment due? What forms of payment do you accept? Q: How many shows have you performed? A: Frankly, too many to count. I would estimate over 2,000 and counting. Return To Top Q: How do you dress when you perform? A: If the event is formal (a wedding), I will be in a suit. If its informal, (outside picnic) Ill typically wear dress shorts (no denim) and a polo shirt. It is my belief that no one should be dressed as formally as the groomsmen at a wedding, thats why I dont wear a tuxedo. Return To Top Q: Will you wear a tuxedo if I insist that you do? A: Yes, but at your expense. I do not wear one regularly enough to warrant owning one. Return To Top Q: When do you set up your equipment? A: I like to set up when the hall is empty and Im generally finished approximately 1 hour before your guests arrive. In some cases Ill set up several hours before the show and return later to perform. Return To Top Q: Do you work alone? A: I myself will do the actual show alone. I sometimes recruit the help of "musclemen" to carry the equipment and set up. This is not charged to you and is included in my prices. Return To Top Q: Do you charge for travel time or set up? A: No. My prices are for actual playing time reserved. Return To Top Q: Do you announce the bridal party or handle emcee duties? A: Yes. I can do just about anything you ask except juggle, sing, or dance. None of those would be pretty. Return To Top Q: Do you provide karaoke service? A: No. Besides, who would want to hear me sing to get the party started? Return To Top Q: Do you take breaks? A: No. The only time the music stops is when you request that it does. Otherwise I play non-stop for your entire contracted time. Return To Top Q: Do you require a deposit to book? A: Ive wrestled with this one many times over the years. I have not required one in the past and I hope to maintain that policy. In consideration that you may have many other deposits required from other vendors, I try not to be one more thing you need to worry about. I do have a clause in the contract that entitles me to a portion of the contracted amount if you cancel within 60 days of the contracted date. In 25+ years, I have yet to enforce that clause. I understand that "things happen" that cause bookings to cancel. Its important to me that you remember me as the guy who understood at a time like this and you tell your friends about your good experience with me. Return To Top Q: What if inclement weather strikes on the contracted date? A: My contracts state that I have the final say in regards to weather cancellations. I do not want to travel in adverse driving conditions any more than you do. I will work with you to come with a viable solution for the days event. Please keep in mind though that I may have other contractual obligations that may not allow me to "just push it back a week". For your peace of mind, I have never missed a show because of the weather if my customers have wanted the show to go on. Return To Top Q: What about power outages? A: If a general power failure prevents me from fulfilling my show obligation, I am entitled to the full contracted amount. The same is true if management of the location of the event prevents me from performing. However, I reserve the right to adjust the contracted amount as I see fit & appropriate. Im in business to make friends, not enemies. Return To Top Q: Can we meet face to face before the show? A: Sure. I dont require a meeting but some brides feel more comfortable if weve met in advance. Return To Top Q: Will you play special songs that I bring? A: Absolutely. Just please keep in mind that I am a trained professional who is an excellent judge of appropriate and inappropriate songs for a crowd. Even so, YOU call the shots. If you want me to play 6 songs from Uncle Johnnys garage band, I will. Return To Top Q: Must I provide a meal for you and any assistants? A: No. A meal is always appreciated, but never required. The only thing I ask is that you let me know in advance whether or not you are paying for a meal for me so I can be prepared before I arrive. Return To Top Q: Is there anything I do need to provide? A: Either two 6 ft. or one 8 ft banquet style table to place equipment and music on and have it located within 25 feet of a single dual powered outlet. Return To Top Q: When is payment due? A: On the day of the show. You may pay earlier if you like. Return To Top Q: What forms of payment do you accept? A: Checks, money orders, and cash. Return To Top |
